The steam was water.  Then it turned hot and it popped out.  When you put it in the microwave and push the button it pops.  (Dannia)

Popcorn pops out.  (Abukar)

I liked the Science Fair.  The steam comes out of popcorn.  (Qasim)

I had fun. (Iman)

My mom and my dad came because they love me so much.  They liked my project.  (Batrisyia)

I liked when people looked at my project.  I liked blowing bubbles.  (Ikhlaas)

Bubbles can’t be any shape, they are only circles.  The gravity makes them be circles all of the time.  If anyone asks you what bubbles shapes make, you say circles.  There were lots of people.  I loved the Science Fair because there were lots of projects.  (Ibrahim)

I liked the Science Fair.  I liked the frogs.  (Sarah)

I liked it when they put the butterfly part.  (Nadir)

I made bubbles.  It can’t be any shape, only circles.  (Eaman)

If you blow really fast bubbles will get small.  If you blow bubbles very slow they will get big.  (Omar)

My teacher cut the apple in half.  I washed my hands.  I took out the seeds.  I counted the seeds.  We put them on some papers.  We wrote the numbers of how much.  (Khaled)

This is how a frog grows:  egg, tadpole, back legs, front legs, tail goes away, frog.  And this is how a butterfly grows: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly.  (Sumeya)

We had lots of people seeing our project and books.  They liked our books.  They liked the butterflies and frogs.  They liked our project.  (Saman)

It was so nice and I liked it.  I liked when men came to look at our projects.  I liked the Science Fair so much and saw the whole town.  (Abdullah)

If you mix colors, it will make another color.  You might not know what will happen if you mix red and purple.  (Tawfeek)

I liked the Science Fair.  (Nasra)

I liked when we mixed up the colors and I liked when we painted on the papers.  I liked when we ate popcorn.  (Nisreen)

Bubbles can’t be other shapes, only circles.  (Hamza)

I liked to eat the apples.  I like to blow bubbles.  (Lara)

We ate apples.  We learned how an apple grows.  The green ones had more seeds.  (Ali N.)

1st and 2nd

Our group was fossils. We were making fossils.  This is how you make fossils.  First you have to push molding clay.  They you put petroleum jelly.  Then you skosh a shell, then put 2 spoons of plaster and then you have to wait for 30 minutes and it will be ready.  My partners were Rayaan, Fadil, Yousuf K and Mohammed N.  (Imaad)

The Science Fair was fun but I hated it when the boys ran off.  But it was funny when I caught Ayub eating the Pre K and K’s popcorn.  I told him to stop but he said no, but then I took him to his project.  Then Sister Huma came to our project and asked which ball bounces the highest?  And we said the dodge ball because it has the most air.
(Maryam)

At the science fair we were making fossils.  Lots of people asked what are fossils?  We said they are things that come from animals and plants.  They also said how do you make one?  First take come modeling clay and make it shaped like a square.  Next you put some petroleum jelly and put it all over the modeling clay.  Then push in the shell.  And then mix some plaster with water and dump it in.  And wait for thirty minutes.  So I was happy that I did my best.  So the Science Fair was over.  (Mohammed N.)

On March 9,2007 there was a Science Fair in our school!  I was in the group of flowing rock.  The people who were in my group were Sarrah, Gadir, Usra and me.  Flowing Rock is the upper part of the mantel.  The ingredients were water and corn starch.  The flowing rock felt squishy and sticky.  The best thing about the science fair is that I had fun.  (Nagham)

I had a science fair. I had a volcano.  It was very very very fun.  The people in my group were Haneen, Haya, Eseraa and me.  The volcano erupted.  We put in Baking soda and red coloring.  We had a girl and a sheep and a dinosaur and bushes.  They died when the volcano erupted.  It was on the table.  It was very cool.  (Lul)

We had a Science Fair on March 9, 2007.  My partners were Usra, Sarrah, and Nagham.  My project was Flowing Rock.  Flowing Rock is the upper part of the mantel. The ingredients were water and corn starch.  We got to see the other projects. I like it because when you take a part in your hand and then put your hand out, it turned to liquid.  (Gadir)

Hi my name is Sarrah A.!  And my project was flowing rock. We used corn starch and water until it got gooey and a little hard.  Flowing rock is the upper part of the mantel and the cool part was when you keep playing with it, it stays hard but once you let go it turn to liquid!!  The people with me were Nagam, Gadir and Usra.

My Science Fair was flowing rock and a lot of people came to ask and a lot of people like ours and my group was me, Nagham, Gadir and Sarrah.  We were telling people that when you grab a piece and rub it for a little minute, it will turn to liquid.  (Usra)

Hello, I’m Haya and these are my friends Haneen, Eseraa and Lul.  We made a Volcano!  First we cut cardboard into a volcano shape.  Then you cover it with flour and water and newspaper.  It was Yucky!!  (Haya)

The Science Fair was fun.  I was with Haneen, Lul and Haya. And we were the volcano group.  Our volcano looked beautiful and put vinegar, baking soda and food coloring.  I liked the part when the lava came out.  (Eseraa)

The Science Fair was very fun.  My experiment was how high the ball bounces.  It was very cool.  I liked everyone’s project too.  The dodge ball went the highest.  My group was Haji, Maryam, Mohammed A. and me.  (Ayub)

3rd and 4th

The Science Fair was on Friday and I did a volcano.  It was so cool but kind of hard.  It was worth it and at least we had fun.  (Ahmad)

What I did in the Science Fair is float an egg.  It was Amazing!  You put two spoons of salt, then get a spoon and put it in the water and mix it.  When we went to the Science fair, I saw my mom.  Abdulla and I are partners.  It took us three to do that.  We never explained it good so we didn’t win but I saw college kids there and I explained some of it to them.  Abdulla and I thought it was fun a little bit and it was exciting!  (Abdisalam)

I like the Science Fair because it was fun.  Ramy and I did can a bean plant go through a maze?  We thought it would but didn’t so we didn’t win.  But a lot of people’s projects were better than ours.  Some other people won the science fair projects.  I do not know all the people who won.  (Muhammad)

I liked the Science Fair because there were kids making science projects.  Ahmad and I made a volcano that erupted.  The materials were: vinegar, baking soda, paint, and plaster.  The question was: How does a volcano erupt?  It would be first you put baking soda, then you put vinegar, then the volcano will start getting bubbling.  Then it will start to explode!  After that that’s how you make a volcano Explode!  (Neil)

For the Science Fair, Asmaa and I did a project called Basic Effects on Color.  We had to get construction paper and put bleach on it to see if it becomes white.  There were other projects too.  All of the projects were great except that I didn’t win.  (Sumaya)

On Friday we had a Science Fair and what I did for the fair was Green Pennies.  Plus the green pennies looked awesome to us.  We worked together to win first place.  And we tried and we tried.  But we just didn’t win.  But the best thing was that we tried and we had fun.  (Nadeen)

On Friday we had a Science Fair.  There were so many projects!  It was so cool!!    (Hatim)

The Science Fair was fun because we had to explain what we did.  Then when people were done they ran around but Hatim and I were explaining what to do.  We won Second place and it was fun.  (Mohamed Dahir)

My partner was Sumaya and our project was Basic Effects on Color.  We were using bleach for the pieces of paper and most of the colors turned yellow.  Black just turned golden.  The Science Fair was on Friday.  We didn’t win because maybe we didn’t explain well.  I think the judges like ours a lot.  It was so FUN!  (Asmaa)

When we did th Science Fair it was very exciting.  Maryam and I did liquid rainbow.  We had to get a tube approximately a foot long, food coloring, 6 cups, and a lot of towels because we made a big mess.  The question on the board was:  How can you make a rainbow out of liquid?  The hypothesis was:  The water will mix with the food coloring and the liquid rainbow will develop.  The results were: When we mixed the food coloring together there were only a few colors in the bowl.  The colors were very dark blue at the bottom, a little light green at the top, and a little bit of orange reddish color.  The things we did not have was a chart thing.  (Sadiya)

For the Science Fair we (me and Hoda) made a Lemon Battery.  The lemon battery was good.  Then it burnt out.  The Science project was perfect and when we started I got scared and furious.  Then when it was time, I felt bad and thought I would cry.  Then the next day I found that I won 3rd place!  (Ayan)

On Friday it was the Science Fair.  Abdisalam and I did float an egg.  People said ours was great!  We had a lot of fun and people won.  (Abdulla)

On Friday we had a Science Fair.  So we had to show all of of the judges our project.  So Sadiya and I were kind of scared who would win or not win.  So we were freaked out.  First what we had to do was get water, then put food coloring in it, except red because it’s darker.  Then we had to put the rest of the salt, then put it into the tube, develop it, then the last one we had to put was red.  So that’s how we did it.  But we did not win but it’s okay.  We had fun.  (Maryam)

For Friday Activities we had the Science Fair.  Nadeen and I did the Green Pennies.  We didn’t win.  We used real pennies on our board.
(Summer)

In the Science Fair there were lots of projects in Science.  Malak and I were making a Colorful Flower.  There were other projects too.  (Sofia)

On Friday we had a Science Fair and won first place because my experiment was colorful and explained a lot of the experiment.  My experiment was called Colorful Flowers.  I won first place.  I said to myself, “I can’t believe it.”  Sofia and I went up there and got really cool stuff.  (Malak)

Muhammad and I did a fun science project called A”maze”ing beans.  We had to plant beans, water them and let them grow through a maze.  Even though it didn’t make it, it was fun.  We didn’t win at all but we loved to do it.  We used our imagination and that’s what made it fun.  (Ramy)

5th and 6th

The Science Fair was nice.  It was cool seeing all of the different kinds of experiments.  I liked all the poster boards, they were all very creative.  I thought the Science Fair was a good way to have fun and also learn something.  I thin the people who came to see the experiment really enjoyed it.  I did the lemon Juice Rockets.  It took me a long time to get it done, but I was able to finish it before the Science Fair.  I really enjoyed it.  (Fathma)

The Science Fair was very good and went well.  I thought the Science Fair was really fun.  I won first place and got twenty-five dollars and a certificate and even got a ribbon.  In the Science Fair there were very creative posters and all the experiments were very cool.  Like mine, it was called Bubble Bomb.  When one of the judges came to judge me, I was kind of nervous but I went through it and did well.  Now after the Science Fair, I realized that Science is not that bad of a subject and that Science can really be fun.  (Amal S.)

Before I thought the Science Fair would be boring and painful, painful by me not winning.  But when I won 3rd place, I thought the Science Fair was perfect!  I think that what next year should be done is to be a little bit more organized, get done early, and for me to be 1st place then 3rd. The Science Fair was great!  There were all kinds of colorful posters.  My poster was called Color Confusion.  I won 3rd place and got a white ribbon, 15 dollars and a certificate.  I saw lots of great posters like, balloon blow up, bubble bomb, balloon columns, lemon juice rocket, diet cola, the nose knows, eggstraordinary, holy wall and not to mention: Colorful Confusion!!  (Asha)

The Science Fair was great!  The thing that I didn’t like was that I didn’t have someone to take my place, so I couldn’t see other people’s projects except the ones next to me.  Some of the projects looked really cool, like Malak and Sofia’s and Amal S.  My experiment was called “Hole-y wall”.  It was showing that liquid can flow through walls.  The judges were a bit tough.  There were 3 of them and I only knew 1.  With the help of Allah(SWT), I won 2nd place in the 5th and 6th grade class.  I won $20.00.  I think the Science Fair was fun and gave us a lesson not to put off things until the last minute.  It also prepared us for higher grades.  The Science Fair was fun and exciting and I hope I’ll never forget it.  (Lila)

The Science Fair was awesome and it happened on March 9th.  I liked it a lot and this time we didn’t have partners so we apparently did the work ourselves.  Some waited until the last minute.  I had a great time but it took me a while and I didn’t win.  But I got a Science Fair Participant Certificate.  My science experiment was about how smell affects taste.  The process went well and I got a successful answer back because smell does effect taste and my experiment proved me right.  We had Vanderbilt College students come and help out and show us some cool experiments.  The Science Fair went well. We had other parents come from the community.  I worked hard for the Science Fair and next time I’ll work even harder.  I hope I will do better next time. (Insha Allah)  Well the Science Fair went smooth and great!  (Juwahir)

In the Science Fair the judges had paper so they could judge.  My experiments name is eggstrordinary.  It is about if you could break an egg with a c-clamp standing up or sideways.  On Friday, after the science fair, I lost my c-clamp.  (Abdelaziz)

I think that the Science Fair was cool.  I wasn’t happy when I found out that I didn’t win.  But it’s all good.  And there were so many great experiments.  I thought that next time they should give out trophies or something valuable to the winners.  I was nervous when one of the judges asked me questions.  But thankfully I answered them correctly.  There were some people who asked me weird questions but I didn’t know what to tell them.  But it was still a good Science Fair.  (Amal M.)

My Science Experiment is call balloon blow-up.  It’s about making a balloon blow up.  You use baking soda, vinegar, and a balloon.  You put baking soda in the balloon and vinegar in the bottle.  The baking soda falls into the bottle when you pick it up, but the balloon does not explode.  I liked the Science experiment because it was fun and I liked to see other people’s experiments.  Everyone’s experiments were very good.  (Muna)

I didn’t like the Science Fair because I didn’t get to do my project.  Brother Yusuf said not to do it inside or outside.  Next year it would be better to do it in spring so we can do messy experiments outside.  I think I had a better chance of winning if I did my project.  (Osama)

7th and 8th

March 9th we had a Science Fair.  It was a big success.  Although I didn’t win a prize or place, I still did very good and had a lot of fun.  (Mohammed A.)

I liked the Science Fair.  It was fun, but oh-so stressful!  (Hussein Sheikh-Aden)

This Science Fair was the best yet and I enjoyed it very much.  I was one of the honored winners of the science fair and I did learn so much.  It was very interesting and fun.  (Aso)

The Science Fair was fun. It was exciting to see everyone’s projects.  I liked the judges.  They really listened to you and they picked very good people to be the winners.  (Rabiah)

On March 9 we had a Science Fair at our school.  My project was about moon tides.  I learned that there is a gravitational pull between the moon and earth.  I also walked around and looked at other posters.  I learned a lot of things from the other posters.  It was really fun!  (Maymunah)

The Science Fair was fun.  Lots of parents came to see what their kids were doing and others too.  It was colorful.  I learned something new.  (Zahra)

Being in the Science Fair was exciting.  I enjoyed competing with my friends for 1st place.  Everyone did an excellent job on their projects including those who didn’t come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.  I’m giving it two thumbs up.  This year’s Science Fair was much better than the years before.  (Nithaar)
